This is definitely a must read for anyone who wants to understand all the influences at play when it comes to understanding the complex relationship we have with food and our bodies. The only thing I would also be curious about is — what happened at age 14? I find that people I work with all have some kind of story where diet culture first became entrenched and it helps to understand what that was. We are often looking for diet culture to fill a need we may or may not know we had. As the author notes —healing internally needs to happen — in addition to changing the culture — and this path is going to look different for everyone. Excellent article overall and one I will reference often!

I help women feel good in their bodies using a non-diet, weight neutral approach to food and movement based on permission, allowance, self compassion and trust.
